Thank you for visiting the NBA Women Lawyers Division website! I am honored to humbly serve a second term as Chair of the Women Lawyers Division (WLD) during our 40th Anniversary year. We are very proud to receive the 2011 NBA “Division of the Year” Award and are excited about “Celebrating 40 Years of Excellence” next year. Plan now to attend our special 40th Anniversary Celebration events during next year’s NBA Convention in Las Vegas. We are excited about honoring the outstanding women lawyers who have made significant contributions to our division, the NBA and the legal profession.
This year’s WLD theme is “Unity Through Collaboration: We Do It Better Together.” As Chair, my key goals remain the same: 1) to increase the membership and active participation of women lawyers in the WLD, and 2) to increase the visibility and involvement of the WLD in the community. To achieve these goals, I am committed to connecting with our WLD members, NBA affiliated women lawyers associations, women organization partners and community. In addition to our efforts to get connected, we have implemented “collaboration” plans to help us stay connected because there is “Power in Connections.”
We look forward to connecting with you and keeping you informed about the activities of our division. We will continue to enhance our new membership communication tools - website (www.nbawld.com), member listserv, Facebook page, e-news blasts and the WLD Sister Connection newsletter - which are all vital tools to help us connect with you and other women lawyers across the nation. We will also publish a new WLD Membership Directory to help our members to connect and network with each other.
We hope that you have joined or renewed your membership in the WLD, so you can take advantage of the many benefits. You are an integral part of who we are and what we contribute as women lawyers to the NBA, the legal profession and the community. There are many opportunities, such as the 40th Anniversary Committee, the “Respect Yourself” Mentor Program, the U.S. Supreme Court Swearing-In Ceremony, the Annual Retreat, the Annual Networking and Awards Breakfast, and the Seminars/CLEs, for you to get involved and make a big difference within the WLD. We look forward to your participation!
